How to install from an img file?

Has microsoft gone mad? When you download a trial of project 2007 these days, instead of a nice user friendly format like say a zip file or an msi or an exe - you get - an img..

This is a form of natural selection which leaves 50% of people stumped at that stage and reverting to pen and paper.

A quick search of the web finds the answer - in http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/aa718401.aspx Microsoft suggesting using third party cd burning software. Hmmm.. But I have no third party cd burning software!

In to the breach steps ISO Buster!! http://www.smart-projects.net/ This is a free piece of software which allows you to open IMG files. We're saved! And if Microsoft are recommending it then surely there is no spyware (right??)

Personal indemnity insurance, contractor insurance, blah de blah. Part of working for yourself is taking risks so spending money on insurance seems pointless. Although.... Hmmm ok, maybe i'll check these guys out...

cpCommerce - OpenSourceCMS

OpenSourceCMS

Try before you dont buy.. A great site for trying out the various CMS (content management system) installs that are available in open source software. Fantastic idea, saves a lot of time setting up systems in order to trial them.

The way the site works is simplicity itself, a selection of open source systems are setup with admin passwords available for you to try them out. The site has a countdown of 2 hours in which you can play to your hearts content - once the two hours is up all the CMS reset back to standard build, ready for everyone to play again.

Its not all heart - the site offers reasonably priced hosting services as well so once youve chosen the CMS that works you can go on and deploy it.

Downside - I dont see any dot net CMS systems...
